Criticism of Ye on GAS

Main Post:

First of all, I care about GAS, and I mean what I say with good intent.

It’s perfectly fine to like Vultures, and it’s perfectly fine not to. Personally, I’m not a fan of it, and I’m at the point where I think if you like it that’s ok! I just hate to see so many people getting downvoted simply because they have a differing opinion from the majority of people on this sub. I’ve seen plenty of comments that aren’t even bad opinions, nor are they in bad taste, they’re just criticisms instead of glazing.

This is probably the community on the internet most dedicated to Ye, so why not hold him to a high standard? Criticism of something or someone that you love is very meaningful; it means you care enough to see it/them improve.

We’re all Ye fans here, and we all care about good music. Even though we might have different ideas about what makes Ye good, I think it’s important to keep an open mind and respect your fellow GAS members!

Excessive Gas

Main Post:

Wondering if anyone could provide some recommendations for me, (32f), who suffers from chronic gas (flatulence)

I feel totally great until about an hour after lunch, where I have consistent gas the rest of the day. I can feel it rumbling around my abdomen, it smells, etc....totally effing with my life. I’ve suffered from this for 10+ years. I’ve tried it all/been tested for it all

  • endoscopy
  • colonoscopy
  • celiac
  • SIBO
  • h.pylori
  • tried eliminating lactose
  • tried eliminating gluten

Everything comes back normal/negative and lactose/gluten has no affect. The only thing I haven’t done is a strict elimination diet.

The wild thing is, I can eat the same exact thing every single day and have wildly different outcomes. Sometimes I have zero gas, sometimes I have a ton of it.

The GIs I’ve seen have kind of given up as they can’t find anything “wrong,” and some have labeled it as IBS.

ANY IDEAS??? Truly this messes with my life when I feel this way.

Top Comment: Not a doctor. You may want to try 2 things: digestive enzymes and peppermint oil. These are both inexpensive. The digestive enzymes help ensure you can digest properly. Peppermint oil has been studied and found effective for IBS sufferers. Here’s a short video on peppermint oil: https://nutritionfacts.org/video/peppermint-oil-for-irritable-bowel-syndrome/ I

People overestimate the cost of gas when chipping in “gas money.”

Main Post: People overestimate the cost of gas when chipping in “gas money.”

Top Comment: It’s not just the price of gas, it’s also the wear and tear on the vehicle, the use of the various fluids, and because it’s a friend, not a business transaction. Always give more than the actual gas amount.

When on-site, how do you deal with gas, going #2, etc.

Main Post: When on-site, how do you deal with gas, going #2, etc.

Top Comment: I have IBS and worked for years in offices, so I've dealt with this a lot. Honestly, I just got used to occasionally stinking up the bathroom & trusting to other people's tack that they would pretend they didn't notice. I've also been in bathrooms where someone else was having the same problem, and that's what I did. I think most people know it happens and will be compassionate enough to ignore it and not stick around in the bathroom long, to give you as much privacy as possible. That said, if people are always in and out of the bathroom, you can always pretend it wasn't you (if there are no sounds)! Farts on the other hand, I just learned to hold in. I heard on a podcast once that if you hold in a fart, it eventually disperses and gets breathed out (without the smell), which isn't especially appealing, but I think it's just what is expected in today's society.

What’s your strategy to get rid of gas and bloating?

Main Post:

This follows on my other post today. I have tried simethicone, charcoal caps, silicol gel (amazon.co.uk), massage/vibration, magnesium. All of them have worked some of the time. None of them are working as fast as I would like right now. Please share any ideas that work for you. Please tell me I am missing the most brilliant solution that I have never heard of. 🤪 Thank you.

Top Comment: My first trick is to avoid food that triggers me, and to avoid overeating. If that does happen, then I either go lie down on my left side and fart, or I go for a walk. I find that pills/supplements don't really work for me, if I eat something irritating then I'm bound to suffer bloating and trouble breathing which is really annoying.

Best Tool for Finding Low Gas Prices

Main Post:

Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone knew of any tools to help find and predict low gas prices. As an example I filled up at a gas station for $3.17 a gallon. The next week it was $3.00 a gallon. I am just looking to improve my spending.

I could watch the news but I was hoping for an app or something. I could save a bit of money if I time my refueling better.

Thanks in advance !

Top Comment: Gas Buddy is good for finding the lowest gas in your area or on the route of a road trip. They do predictions for the next day, but I don't think they're able to predict a week or so out

How much gas is too much?

Main Post:

When I bring up the gas pain with my ped he says “normal,” but I’m curious to hear from other parents.

Our 6 week old has been struggling bad with dyschezia and gas for about 4 weeks. Bicycle legs, gas drops, holding upright don’t really do the trick. He is EBF, no tongue tie. I would say as long as he is awake, he is struggling with gas, so all day. Now some wake windows are definitely more pleasant than others, for instance in the afternoon he might be entertained for 1 hour then have 1-2 quick strains then be back to happy. In the evening however or early morning it feels like an entire wake window can be spent battling gas. Turning red, straining, grunting, crying etc.

Is gas an all day affair for some babies? Just trying to get a sense of where we are on the “gas spectrum.”

Top Comment: My 7 week old is exactly the same! Literally grunting and straining 95% of the day no matter what I’ve tried. I’ve also been told it’s “normal” but it seems extreme to me

Do you ever get over GAS?

Main Post:

Hi guys, I’ve been thinking on and off these days about where does music inspirations come from, do gears, especially hardwares, play an essential role in your music creativity? Thinking about a dancer or a painter, I suppose neither the dancer shoes nor the palette drives their artistic instincts. I started off making music with a laptop, daw and electric piano, now I’ve gathered a several synths, controllers and drum computers. A lot of the times the music ideas only starts forming after mess around with the gears, the superstition about ‘analog’ and ‘dawless’ was the drive. So I’m asking you guys who have been through this, is GAS acute or chronic? Do you ever come out of it reaching a brand new level where musical inspirations just happens regardless of gears?

I’m asking mainly to decide if my wife gets a nice present for Xmas, or she gets a hug instead and I get me self the Gemini

Thanks a bunch!

Not sure if im answeing propperly your post...but the satisfaction of GAS never leaves me with any lasting inspiration or fulfillment. It's something that I've been struggling with too.

What helps me fight against GAS is:

*not researching or reading about gear, including social media *every time my hand reaches for my cell phone, redirecting my attention to my instrument *cultivating gratitude for what I do have *reminding myself the problem with my lack of creativity, focus or output is me. Not my gear. Somewhere there is a kid making some beautiful music with two empty coke bottles, and a stick. Creativity comes with mastering the tools I already have.

But this is just my opinion.

Trapped gas/can’t fart?

Main Post:

Does anyone get horrible gurgling and gas that you can push on, but it’s trapped in your pelvis or at your rectum and you can’t seem to move it out? I was just told by my GI that I have tight sphincter muscles which could be part of it, but sometimes it’s really easy to pass gas and sometimes I won’t be able to get it out at all. And it’s HEAPS of trapped gas. And when I can’t pass gas then I can’t pass the stool behind it. Anyone else?

EDIT: I’ve tried yoga/breathing, low fodmap diet, carnivore diet, pretty much every diet you could try. The only thing that helps is activated charcoal but I obviously need to absorb my food lol so I don’t take it a lot. Gas X doesn’t even touch it. Thank you for the suggestions though, I appreciate it!

Top Comment: Yes I get the trapped gas right under my left lung and I absolutely hate it
